The Hummer is back – And it has gone full EV with 1000 hp

GMC HUMMER EV brings bold design and remarkable capability to the electrified vehicle space.

In the land of the free, huge SUVs are the craze. Unfortunately, many will never reach the European shores since they are just too big, too brash and most of all, too American. I might disagree with that. If Chevrolet, GMC, KIA (yes, even Kia makes huge cars in the US), and other manufacturers want to try their luck with going up against the likes of the BMW X7, Mercedes GLS and Audi Q8, so be it. The problem is the complete difference in markets, and what the markets want, making the big SUVs in the US very cheap, and maybe not as sophisticated as the European counterparts. The new Kia Telluride starts from 30 000 euros for Christ sake, and it can seat eight. You might wonder why I am writing about something completely different compared to what the title lead you to believe. The fact is that since many US cars are not possible to get in Europe, I don’t write about when a new Chevrolet Suburban is revealed. However, I make exceptions, and this is e big one.

The video is named quiet revolution, and in all honestly, it doesn’t show much. Apart from the grille and a huge torque number of 15591 Nm. It might be true, but it is probably from the engine and needs to be reduced anyways. That number is also possible to reach with a tiny engine from a Fiat 500, if it is geared correctly. Just under 2000 Nm would be the more comparable with other cars on the market. The Hummer EV will do 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds, thanks to over 1000 hp.

It seems that the Hummer will become the peak luxury model of GMC. Further, since it is America, the car will have a big ad time during the Super Bowl.
