Yes, even Aston Martin has followed the path of SUVs, but with a twist. It could very well be the life saver for Aston, which stocks has plummeted the last years. The hype that Aston is going to create an SUV has been bubbling for a long time and at last the DBX is revealed. A very big car with sporty credentials without any lack in the luxury department. Will it be the next car to put your hard earned cash on? Continue reading to find out.

Oh yes. The Aston Martin DNA is there. Or rather, you could trace this design back to the db7. Come to think of it, the shape makes the DBX look more car than SUV. Something very impressive since it measures over 5 meters in length. It is elegant and sporty with just the right amount of creases and crevices. One quite ugly detail is the lower rear part and the exhaust. They look very similar to the ones on a base Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Give it four and bigger exhaust to fill out all the empty space! I have to give it to Aston though. In red, the car will get my improvement any time.

Apparently, Aston has worked closely with its customers when developing the interior. The seats are the centerpieces. DBX imprinted on the head rest and flowing stitching give them a fittingly look to the exterior of the car. Leather is seen throughout the entire interior, except for the ceiling which is covered in suede. The classic buttons to control the gearbox sits just over the infotainment screen. Speaking of, the system is taken from Mercedes, and redesigned by Aston. Hopefully, both the interior and the technology should be up to par. Something that has been lacking in older Astons. The focus is evidently on luxury, but the simplicity of it all makes it more inclined towards sharpness.

Underneath, the car is built from the ground up, and is thus not based on anything. This has given the engineers much more freedom when designing the DBX. It is supposed to handle the Nurburgring, pull 2,5 tons and drive in half a meter of water. The goals are as ludicrously high as the price tag. More on that later. More tech is taken from Mercedes in the form of a twin turbo V8, creating 550 hp and 700 Nm. 0-100 km/h is done in 4,5 seconds. That is fast for 2,2 tons of car. However, it is not as fast as the competition. The Lamborghini Urus does it in almost 1 second less. Will there be a DBX S in the future?

The price is 208 387 or 2 250 000 sek, without any extra options. And being Aston Martin. There will be plenty. If it can compete with the Bentley Bentayga or find its own niche will be interesting to see. However, Aston Martin has done one hell of an effort with the DBX.
